Cincinnati Children’s Theatre “Seussical, Jr.” Earns 2 LCT Nominations

Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s production of Seussical, Jr. with an 2 LCT nominations for Costumes (Kathie Brookfield/Roderick Justice) and scenic design (David Centers) as well as distinguishing it as a recommended production.

This fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza features favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including: Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Lazy Mayzie, and all of the Whos of Whoville! Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty  have lovingly brought to life these classic, colorful tales, brought together by Jojo, a young boy and “thinker of strange and wonderful thinks!”

Panelists loved the “fun and whimsical” costume design as well as the “colorful and quirky” set design which “flowed seamlessly” through the many environments called for by the musical. Overall, Seussical, Jr. was a “fast-paced musical romp: “The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati starts their 2012/2013 magical season with enough energy and polish to make even Horton the Elephant blush.”

Seussical, Jr. continues through October 27th. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.thechildrenstheatre.com/onstage.

Final LCT awards will be determined at the end of the season and announced at the LCT gala in the spring.
