Inspired by the French film of the same name, this musical adaptation brings to life the magic, charm, and quirkiness of the original. Under the direction of Jamey Strawn, this is a production of Northern Kentucky School for the Arts–on tour as their auditorium goes through renovations.

A live orchestra sets the stage with its captivating melodies. Music Director Steve Goers, with Craig Lucas (book) and Daniel Messé and Nathan Tysen (music and lyrics), sweep the audience into a word of wonder. From the first chord of “The Flight of the Blue Fly,” performed with impeccable harmony by the talented cast, it’s evident that this production is something special.

The Cast of Amelie

The cast delivers stellar performances across the board. Standouts include Zachary Farmer as the charming love interest Nino and Katie Chambers as the endearing Suzanne Sacripant. The ensemble brings energy and vibrancy to each scene, seamlessly transitioning between roles and characters with ease.

While some Parisian accents may falter at times, and the acoustics occasionally pose a challenge for clarity, the overall whimsical tone of the production shines through. Memorable songs like “Times Are Hard for Dreamers” and “Stay” captivate the audience, transporting them to a world where imagination knows no bounds.
