Ten years ago, John Siedenberg founded Stage Right Musical Theatre to bring theatre to Grant County, KY. Today, two-thirds of Stage RIght’s single-ticket buyers are tourists.
Stage Right Musical Theatre Company has been steadily growing, bringing live theatre, arts education, and community engagement to audiences in Northern Kentucky.
Founded in 2016, the nonprofit organization is celebrating its tenth anniversary season while presenting 9 to 5: The Musical at the Williamstown Performing Arts Center through June 28, 2026.

The group began as a dinner theatre company, promoting a “Broadway to Your Tableside” experience. Over the course of seven years, the organization built a following. They expanded beyond performances to include educational programming through its Rising Stars Academy, which provides theatre training, camps, and classes for young performers.
After the pandemic, the company entered a new chapter by relocating to the Williamstown Performing Arts Center on the campus of Williamstown Independent Schools. The move provided a dedicated performance venue and allowed the organization to expand both its productions and educational offerings.

Specializing in Family-Friendly Musicals, Attracting New Audiences
Over the past decade, Stage Right has produced a variety of family-friendly musicals and crowd-pleasing favorites, including Annie, Footloose, The Wizard of Oz, Willie Wonka, and Little Shop of Horrors. Those productions established the company’s reputation for accessible entertainment while drawing audiences from Grant County, Greater Cincinnati and beyond.
Stage Right has found new audiences in an unexpected place. Located just minutes from the Ark Encounter, Stage Right reports that approximately 66 percent of its single-ticket patrons come from outside the immediate area. By attracting tourists from around the country, the company is exposing thousands of visitors to live theatre each year. They are expanding the reach of the performing arts beyond its traditional audience base, providing stories and casts that reflect the true diversity of the region.
Today, through Rising Stars Academy, students gain experience in performance, creativity, and collaboration. Community involvement remains central to the company’s operations, with volunteers assisting as ushers, painters, backstage crew members, and production support staff.

The Next Ten Years at Stage Right
Siedenberg’s son, John Siedenberg II serves as current Artistic Director, while dad gets to focus on set and lighting design for productions. It is more than the Siedenberg family, though–over the years volunteers have developed their own SRMT family.
“We have gotten a front row seat to ten years of young artists coming onto our stages to perform, thousands of audiences from around the country coming to us for entertainment, and countless hundreds of kids effected by our arts education program. As a company we are ecstatic about this milestone and look forward to the future of the arts of Grant County and beyond,” says Seidenberg II.
The company’s work is guided by four principles: entertainment, education, outreach, and opportunity. Those values shape everything from its mainstage productions to its youth programming and community partnerships.
“I’m proud to have Stage Right Musical Theatre Company as part of the League of Cincinnati Theatres so that more people can see the caliber of performers and productions that Northern Kentucky has to offer,” said Shelby Coleman, a former Stage Right board member and current League of Cincinnati Theatres board member.

As Stage Right enters its second decade, the organization continues to build on the foundation established in 2016: creating accessible theatre experiences, nurturing emerging artists, and expanding opportunities for audiences and artists alike.
Celebrating ten years while staging 9 to 5 the Musical feels fitting for a company that has spent the past decade connecting audiences with familiar stories, memorable performances, and a welcoming introduction to live theatre for all ages.
