Always… Patsy Cline brings the soulful sounds and heartwarming story of a country music legend to the Incline Theatre, running from July 8 through August 2, 2026. The show was written by Ted Swindley. This production captures the essence of an era while celebrating the enduring power of female friendship and musical talent.
The Story
This beloved musical chronicles the true-life friendship between Patsy Cline and her biggest fan, Texas resident, Louise Seger. Cline was performing at the Esquire Ballroom in Houston, Texas where she met Seger. Seger brought Cline home after the show and they spent the night together. For several years they exchanged letters until Cline’s untimely death. The show offers a nostalgic journey through her greatest hits, framed by Louise’s witty and devoted narration.

Stellar Cast
The production features a double-cast ensemble, ensuring a fresh and dynamic experience for audiences throughout the run. On the evening of July 10, the stage was commanded by Zoe Zoller, who captures the rich, emotive vocals of Patsy Cline. She even includes Cline’s signature vocal scoops, starting just below the note and sliding up to pitch. The songs seemed to be a bit too low for Zoller, the low notes that Cline could produce are a stretch for Ms. Zoller. However, she acted with all the warmth and humor that seems to be pure Patsy Cline.
The narrating force of the show, Louise Seger (the vivacious Emily Borst), provides the perfect comedic and emotional counterpoint, inviting the audience into the story as if they were sitting at a kitchen table in Houston. The on stage band, consists of Joe Bob, Billy Bob, Ray Bob, Betty Bob, Jim Bob, and Bob Bob. The all Bob band does a great job of performing and being a part of the action. All are good musicians, keeping the lively tempos along with the plaintive ballads Cline was known for.

The Always… Patsy Cline Creative Team
Under the direction of Stacy Searle, the production flows with an easy, natural rhythm that balances the concert-style musical numbers with intimate character moments. The creative team, including rehearsal musical director Ted Baldwin and Performance Music Director George Drewyor and the live band, create a rich sonic environment that honors the original “Nashville Sound” while filling the Incline Theatre with energy. The simple stage scene set up by Brett Bowling, is effective with the band center stage and a small kitchen for intimate scenes with Louise and Patsy. Jenny Herndon (who also is the other actress to perform as Patsy Cline) led the costume team, including Patsy’s cowgirl dresses to her sophisticated Las Vegas outfits–the blue velvet dress was a favorite.

Themes and Execution
The show explores themes of fame, loneliness, and the unexpected bonds that sustain us. It is executed with a warmth that makes the audience feel like part of the family. The style is both a tribute concert and a memory play, moving seamlessly between Louise’s living room and the various stages where Patsy performed. The intimacy of the venue allows every nuance of the vocal performances to shine, particularly on classic hits like “Crazy” and “I Fall to Pieces.”
