Know Theatre’s “When the Rain Stops Falling†Earns 8 LCT Nominations
Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized The Know Theatre’s “When the Rain Stops Falling†with 8 LCT nominations, as well as distinguishing it as a recommended production: Direction (Brian Isaac Phillips), Ensemble Acting, Lead Actress (Sara Clark), Featured Actress (Kate Wilford), Featured Actor (George Alexander), scenic and lighting design (Andrew Hungerford),  and sound design (Doug Borntrager).
An intricate fabric of overlapping connections, When The Rain Stops Falling moves seamlessly through time and across continents between the years 1959 and 2039.  In a world where the rain rarely stops falling, four generations searching for truth and hoping to mend broken connections discover the impossibility of escaping the past.  We are all shaped by what has come before and we create the shadow of what comes next.
Panelists praised Brian Isaac Phillips for his “flawless†direction of a â€complex and interwoven plotâ€. The ensemble cast was all “equally emotionally investedâ€; “everyone’s contribution was like a puzzle that gradually fit into place.†Sara Clark, Kate Wilfort and George Alexander were singled out specifically for acting nominations. Andrew Hungerford’s scenic and lighting design, and Doug Borntrager’s sound design, fit together “seamlessly†to set the mood and ambiance of the play: “the constant rainfall against the pale blue windows, the cave-like stone and stark emptiness of the room itself were heavily symbolic of the themes of the play.†Overall the panelists described the show as “totally gripping on both an intellectual and emotional levelâ€â€”“the play unfolded like a beautiful flowerâ€.
When the Rain Stops Falling continues through March 16th. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.knowtheatre.com.
Final LCT awards will be determined at the end of the season and announced at the LCT gala in the spring.
