One Big “Cast Party for All” to Connect and Reconnect Theatre People

Because so many cast parties were cancelled due to the pandemic, the League of Cincinnati Theatres is hosting one big “Cast Party for All” to gather theatre lovers, makers and friends on Monday, July 25 at The Carnegie in Covington, Kentucky.

All are invited 7-9:30 pm for Happy Hour drink pricing, Theatre Trivia, photo booth, reconnect with theatre friends and toast to a bright future for Cincy Theatre and LCT.

“It’s time,” says Erin Carr, part of the executive board of LCT. “We need a celebration of all we’ve done over the last two years, and a time to celebrate the vibrant energy of both individual theatre artists and organizations. This is one of many events we plan this year to strengthen and build our community. Anyone who wants to be part of this community can join us.”

The League of Cincinnati Theatres was founded in 1999 to strengthen, nurture and promote Cincinnati’s theatre community. We are a consortium of Cincinnati’s professional theatres with a mission to facilitate collaboration among regional theatre artists and to support critical arts writing in our community. LCT is dedicated to increasing awareness of the performing arts and perception of the arts as a vital part of community life.

LCT’s efforts have taken various forms over the last two decades, from internships and awards galas to AEA grants and prizes for emerging artists.

Currently, the League is focused on supporting critical arts writing and facilitating collaborations among theatre professionals across the region.

Over the pandemic, Cincinnati Theatre has had to grow and change to survive and The League of Cincinnati Theatres is no different. Over the last year, extensive focus group work has been done to rebuild the organization in a better, stronger way. In March of 2022, new By-laws were adopted, bringing individual artists into the membership structure of LCT. It is the deep belief of the Relaunch Committee that this change will help build a stronger theatre community and breathe new life into the mission and work of LCT.

REVIEW: CCM’s “Emilia” is an Intriguing and Timely Play

In 1611 Emilia Bassano wrote a volume of radical, feminist and subversive poetry. It was one of the first published collections of poetry written by an English woman. The little we know of Emilia Bassano is restricted to the possibility that she may have been the ‘Dark Lady’ of Shakespeare’s Sonnets – and the rest of her story has been erased by history.

REVIEW: “I Need That” is About Stuff and Letting Go

This play hit home for me. I would be remiss not to mention that my maternal grandmother was a hoarder and my paternal grandmother suffered from dementia. My direct connection to these themes combined with Wohl’s gentle portrayal of Sam caused me to become emotional during the later scenes of the play which I wasn’t fully expecting.
